Help for Distressed Michigan Homeowners – Catherine McClary, Washtenaw County Treasurer – Can’t make your house payment? Behind in your property taxes? Up to $30,000 in assistance is available for each Michigan homeowner who is delinquent in his or her property taxes, mortgage payments, or both. Washtenaw County Treasurer Catherine McClary is one of five county treasurers statewide who helped organize the program, called Step Forward Michigan. Saline Area Chamber of Commerce: Tax Time – Art Trapp, Chamber Executive Director; Azmina Clark, H&R Block – During tax season, the H&R Block office on East Michigan Avenue in Saline is open seven days a week, providing tax preparation services for homeowners and businesses. Azmina, who has been preparing taxes for 20 years, gives us tips to make tax time a smooth process and tells us how your can prepare now in case of an IRS audit. H&R Block has a flat fee for its services, no matter how complicated your taxes are or how many times you need to meet. Wellness Wednesday: Health Care Leadership – Marge Wisniewski, Faculty Chair for Health Care Management, Cleary University – A survey by the American Management Association shows a growing number of health care organizations are not prepared for the sudden loss of leadership. The survey found that less than seven percent of health care organizations are well prepared to deal with the loss of key members of senior management. Approximately 30 percent are not prepared at all. University of Michigan Alumni Pep Band Director Retires: John Wilkins – He started out playing trumpet in the 5th grade at Wines Elementary and grew up to lead the Michigan Alumni Pep Band at hockey, basketball, and volleyball games. John Wilkins’ retirement from the group he helped to launch 21 years ago is a sad note to a legion of Michigan fans.
