Co-Founder of Lipitor Takes His Company Public – Nathan Bomey, Detroit Free Press – Scientist Roger Newton sold his first version of his company Esperion to Pfizer for more than $1 billion in 2004.  Five years ago he reincarnated his company as Esperion Therapeutics, which has been working on a drug to lower LDL cholesterol.  This week Newton filed for an IPO to take Esperion Therapeutics public.

– Pets are part of the family, so when a tragedy happens at your home and a pet’s life is saved it often makes the news.  Now your pet has a greater chance of survival in a fire thanks to Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling, which has donated pet oxygen mask kits to the Washtenaw Area Mutual Aid Association to distribute to local fire departments.

Tech Thursday:  New Technology to Fight Fires – Albert Foo and Sharath Anand, Seniors, Skyline H.S. At this year’s Southeast Michigan Science Fair, this teen duo placed first in the high school team category for their invention which allows firefighters to safely battle blazes from outside of a burning fire.  Their invention involves a drill and a way to convert the water into steam.
