PRODUCE FOR KIDS® & MEIJER CELEBRATE FAMILY MEALS MONTH!

The healthy eating-focused Produce for Kids® campaign will again join forces with Meijer on Sept. 3 to raise funds to bring the Jump with Jill nutrition education program to schools within the Meijer footprint. The campaign takes place during National Family Meals Month and in-store recipe displays will encourage shoppers to add fresh produce to their cart and share their healthy family meals online using the hashtag #PowerYourFamilyMeal.

Research has proven that families who eat together enjoy benefits that expand beyond the family table. Family meals provide a structure that can influence a child’s long-term health. Kids and teens who share meals with their family three or more times per week are significantly less likely to be overweight, more likely to eat healthy foods and less likely to have eating disorders.  Whether its dinner, lunch or breakfast, enjoying family meals together provide these and other benefits for kids and teens.

Look for the #PowerYourFamilyMeal messaging and housing recipe card takeaways displayed in Meijer produce departments which list all partnering produce companies. You can also visit www.produceforkids.com/meijer, which features more than 350 registered dietitian-approved and family-tested recipes, meal planning tools, grocery store-specific campaign details, and healthy tips from real parents.  As an added bonus, those who participate in the #PowerYourFamilyMeal campaign have a chance to win one of four Meijer Groceries to your door Shipt memberships from produceforkids.com/Meijer.

Suppliers participating in the Meijer and Produce for Kids campaign include:

  • Avocados From Mexico
  • Dole®

Through its partnership with Produce for Kids, Meijer and fruit and vegetable company partners have raised more than $1.2 million to benefit children’s charities and have supported the implementation of 125 Jump with Jill rock ‘n roll nutrition shows at schools in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Kentucky. A familiar initiative to families in the Midwest, Jump with Jill is armed with catchy songs, upbeat dance moves, and a hip wardrobe to engage kids on the subject of health and leave them empowered to eat better. A complete listing of events can be found at jumpwithjill/tour.
