The Future of Hospitals in the Affordable Health Care Era – Rob Casalou, President & CEO, St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor & Livingston Hospitals and Health Centers; Doug Strong, CEO, University of Michigan Hospitals & Health Centers – Lawmakers continue to debate the details of the Affordable Care Act, with Democrats and conservative Republicans at odds over Medicaid expansion. In contrast, there has been a quiet collaboration underway between Michigan’s two largest health institutions. University of Michigan Health System and Trinity Health-Michigan, which represents St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, have forged a unique partnership to tackle the health care challenges in this new era.

Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber of Commerce: The Serial Entrepreneur – Paul Jenkins, Owner, What Crepe? – Paul Jenkins, Jr. has been called a “serial entrepreneur.” His latest venture is in Ann Arbor, the third location for his What Crepe? restaurant. It all started years before though, when Jenkins, Jr. began an entertainment marketing firm called Group 411. He and his team created a number of special events and marketing campaigns for A-list clients such as Missy Elliot, John Legend, Alicia Keys, P. Diddy, and MTV Making the Band.

Business Ethos: The Budget Battles Continue – Dr. David Mielke, Retired Dean of the College of Business at EMU – Will the U.S. Senate and House ever reconcile their different budget proposals? The House wants to repeal Obamacare, but the Senate says that’s not going to happen. Dr. Mielke says the promise of affordable health care for everyone is unlikely. He looks at what’s at stake and says the biggest problem is that no one is offering an alternative.

There will also be display tables of area entrepreneurs and a feast of Italian food being served up for Chef SLAM, another fun aspect of Entre SLAM, and the Entre SLAM buses will be coming in from Detroit and Lansing, as well.
