Business Ethos: Health Care for Everyone – Dr. David Mielke, Retired Dean of the College of Business at EMU – With October 1, 2013 fast approaching, there are still a lot of questions regarding the expansion of Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act’s insurance exchanges. Dr. Mielke tells us about an innovative pilot project in Florida that allows low income people to choose health plans on a “Medicaid marketplace”, saving $1 billion a year. He says this illustrates how an overhaul of Medicaid should be the first course of business before expanding the program.
